Holly Randall and Suze Randall are celebrating 50 years of Hustler Magazine with a pair of candid Q & A interviews in the landmark collector’s edition issue. They detail their extraordinary experiences and favorite memories working with Larry Flynt and his iconic brand.
In the spotlight interviews, Suze- who holds the distinction of being the magazine’s first female photographer- opens up about her fearless approach to dealing with the formidable Flynt (“we fought all the time, and that’s what I loved about him”), her first foray into the business (“I started photographing my girlfriends behind the scenes and then selling them to The Sun newspaper”) and today’s fast-paced shooting schedules (“Poor Holly, she has to do four layouts in one day… I would do four days for one layout… plenty of time for models to get into the groove”).
Holly talks about her early challenges in the industry (“it was hard in the beginning. I was ‘Suze Randall’s daughter’… but the person who probably guided me the most was my father”), her natural flair for following in her mother’s legendary footsteps (“I always knew I wanted to be a photographer and take beautiful images of women”) and her thoughts on Flynt (“the content was always beautiful, and Larry was unwavering in his vision… thank you for changing the world, Larry – there will never be anyone else like you. It was an honor to know you and grow up in your presence”).
In addition to reflecting on the profound influence her mother has had on her career, Holly also shares a cheeky vintage photo of Suze breastfeeding Holly as an infant during a photo shoot with the magazine. “Growing up with a trailblazer like my mother, I’ve always been inspired by her boldness and creativity. A luminary in the world of erotic storytelling, Holly Randall was destined for a life behind the lens. Born in Hollywood, California to legendary photographer Suze Randall – an industry trailblazer as one of adult’s first female photographers and filmmakers- Holly’s affinity for photography and filmmaking was cultivated from an early age.
Like her mother, Holly grew up with a similar creative flair behind the camera; she attended Brooks Institute of Photography to hone her craft, then joined the family business assisting her mother. In 2004, Holly began producing and directing films for Suze.net before stepping into the spotlight in 2008 with her own studio, Holly Randall Productions.
Holly has worked for nearly every brand in the adult industry including Penthouse, Hustler, Adam & Eve, Twistys, and Brazzers. She also hosted the popular Playboy TV Show Adult Film School and the Digital Playground competition DP Star. She published several photography books through GOLIATH, including Erotic Dream Girls, Kinky Lingerie Girls, Kinky Nylons, Kinky Super Beauties and Super Nylon Parade.
In 2017, Holly launched the wildly popular weekly podcast Holly Randall Unfiltered – currently at 300+ episodes and counting – and has appeared in documentaries such as Netflix series Hot Girls Wanted, Amazon Prime Video’s Back Issues: The Hustler Magazine Story, and Vice TV’s Before the Internet.
