Interview with Award-Winning Model & Creator Aphia DeMieux: Inspirations, Goals, and Tips from One of the Top Cam Models in the Adult Industry!

(California) – Recently I had the true pleasure of having an in-depth conversation with the incredible cam model and content creator, Aphia DeMieux, regarding her awards, inspirations, talents, and future goals in life and porn. She is inspirational, unique, funny, kind, and silly in all the right ways. We dig into mental health and her tips for how to get into cam modeling, and she reminds every creator to save for taxes. We hope you enjoy the interview!

Aphia, it’s such a pleasure to get to interview an incredibly sweet friend as well as a two-time award winning AVN Favorite Cam Girl – congratulations on your amazing awards! It was wonderful to get to celebrate with you a little bit that night after the awards show; you looked stunning and spoke beautifully on stage. The first time must have been surreal, but to win twice is even more incredible. You seemed so composed, yet you told me afterwards that you were very nervous going up there to accept the award; do you mind me asking what was going through your mind when they called your name both times?

The first time they called my name to accept the Favorite Cam Girl award I actually didn’t hear them! It was through Zoom where they had all of us sitting around watching the awards show. They were having technical difficulties and the sound conveniently went out around the time of the award announcement. I was super shocked when my face popped up on the screen and I was damn near speechless! All I was thinking at that time was “I need to get out everything I want to say, I don’t wanna take that long!” The second time I won I also didn’t know I won because they didn’t show me as a nominee but when they called my name (kind of) I was absolutely terrified. All I wanted to do was not embarrass myself in front of some of the biggest names in the industry!

What or who are your biggest inspirations in life, and when you think about your brand and camming goals?… Whether it’s a musical group, designer, painter, dancer, specific pieces by one of those afore mentioned artists, or other folks in the sex work industry – what inspires you?

I think something that inspires me is the strong bad-ass bitch of a mom I had. She really didn’t care what anybody thought and I would like to think I take on the same trait. My members also inspire me because they are some of the sweetest down to earth people I have ever met. Anybody is welcome into our Crew and we look out for each other all the time.

You are so creative and topical with your content, and I love your TikToks. How do you stay on top of current trends, and what platforms are you currently addicted to stay culturally relevant?

Honestly I just scroll through my TikTok feed and find sexy or funny sounds and save them to use later. I don’t really know if the sounds are popular but they make me laugh so that’s all that really matters to me. I’m currently VERY addicted to Twitter and I try to stay posting and interacting on there. That’s where I spend most of my time during the day. I try not to think too much about what’s the biggest trend in the cam community, I mostly just stick to doing what I want to do and that has worked out well for me so far.

What do you want to accomplish next; what’s the next big goal, or what are the projects you are looking forward to working on soon, or things that you aspire to accomplish in the near future? Where do you see yourself in five years, ten years, and beyond – still in the adult industry?

I would really love to get close to the top 20 Miss MFC. I also would like a huge community of loving and caring members so we can all pick each other up when we are down. I see myself still working as a cam girl in 5 years but i’m not fully sure about 10 years. I would like to have a family one day with a job working in the vet community and I don’t see how I could make all of that work in 10 years but who knows! Maybe I’ll be a near 40 year old still camming and making content!

Speaking of the topic of your plans going forward, you have recently done work for Amateur Allure and have done some videos on PornHub over the years; how did you get into mainstream porn, and what made you want to get into it? Do you enjoy working for a production company versus working for yourself like you do on cam?

I got into mainstream porn because someone tagged me and Amateur Allure in a post together. I said I would be down to do a video so they contacted me! I thought that it would be a cool way to branch out and have fun at the same time. It’s the same as when I became a Suicide Girl. I just wanted to try new things and have fun with it at the same time. I do enjoy working with a production company because you get to meet so many cool people! I do really enjoy working for myself though so I don’t think I’ll be giving that up anytime soon. I also live nowhere near Vegas or LA so I’m sure a production company would see me as a nightmare to work with considering I would need to constantly fly to the other side of the US.

You talk openly about having anxiety and struggling with it when it comes to performing, you’re incredible at putting on a show even when you have been going through a lot, you definitely have “the show must go on” mentality and it’s very impressive –  do you have any tips for how to overcome your anxiety, or ways that you help ground yourself when you’re struggling in the moment?

I used to be a huge theater kid so I learned a lot about how to hold my shit together when in front of people and I just like to perform for people and make them laugh…. or horny. I think a good tip is to really focus on yourself making sure you are well taken care of mentally and physically. You can’t cam or make content when you aren’t 100% so it’s super important that you do a lot of self care and never push yourself to do things you really don’t wanna do. It helps that I’m currently taking medicine for it and I’m in therapy but I still get anxious about certain things. A lot of the anxiety has worn off since I’ve been in the industry for over 7 years at this point.

As a mental health advocate and integral member of our community, what would you want to say to new performers out there, or people considering getting into the business? And what would you want to say to inspire folks who have been in the industry for a while?

I would tell new performers to SAVE FOR TAXES. That killed me and continues to kill me every year. Taxes are definitely not fun to deal with when you are a sex worker. I would also like to remind people that everything is on the internet and will stay there no matter how hard you might try to hide it. Go into the industry knowing that someday your family or friends might see everything you’ve done. If you’re fully fine with that, study other cam girls! Sit back as a guest and scroll through cam girls to get an idea of what kind of tip menu options you could have, the prices you will want to set, and even what kind of setup you want to have. You will want to be fully prepared with boundaries and tip options so you can kill it right out of the gate. For people who have been in the industry a while, take a step back and breathe. Remember the good days you’ve had in the industry because you should never let the bad days overshadow the good ones. You’re doing good, I promise!

Do you have anything you’d like to say to your fans and friends, and the people that support your impressive and ever-expanding adult industry career?

I love you guys and ya’ll are some little shits. LOL. On a real note, I would not be where I am today without you guys. I’m happy that ya’ll take care of me when I need it and I’m happy that I’m able to take care of ya’ll when ya’ll are struggling with mental health issues or if you need to pay bills. You guys have my back and I have yours. You guys are some of my best friends and I can’t thank you guys enough for all you do for me. Cheers to more years together!

Much appreciation again to Aphia DeMieux for being featured on our platform, and for being an amazing friend and insightful colleague – we can all learn a great deal from you!
