How did you get started in the adult industry?
I originally started back in 2011 camming on Streamate (seems like forever ago now) but really I fully jumped in with both feet when I came out publicly as trans in 2014. That’s when I really started exploring the industry trying everything from fetish modeling to dancing in clubs to escorting/sugaring.
What have you found to be the most challenging aspect of the industry?
Keeping up/staying ahead of the curve, I’ve seen so much change in this industry over the years, some good some bad, but the constant thread through all of it is the desire for more. More entertaining, more engaging, more often, which means more for all of us who provide. For me it’s such a fine line between productivity and burnout to begin with I have to be careful if I try to spread myself too thin exploring a new trend or fad.
What if you found to be your easiest marketing strategy?
I’ve never really seriously marketed before if I’m being honest, I used to rely on consistency and people just finding me, especially with some of my more extreme content, I wouldn’t be able to promo on most platforms anyway. That being said, everything has changed so radically these last few years one can no longer rely on that alone to make decent money. I have spent the last year-ish learning about modern marketing and am getting ready to start implementing actual strategies because it is a necessity in this current environment. So I’ll have to get back to you on that, lol.
What he’s been one of the most difficult parts throughout your journey?
Isolation. When I started so much of my business was working with other people; photographers, videographers, other models, coworkers/staff in clubs. Due to time constraints, conflicting schedules, production costs and the numerous other things that life throws our way it’s not as common that I get to work with others, which was always my favorite part to begin with.
What advice would you give to someone brand new starting out?
This industry is a meat grinder; it will pick apart your insecurities, you will experience your highest of highs one hour and turn around to experience your lowest low the next with very little empathy for your actual well being. Build a community (not just customers) you can trust and actually offer you support when you need it. Learn all you can about marketing, production and being engaging on social media. Finally, don’t be afraid to say no to things, protect your energy.
Do you believe in following a schedule or do you have a different outlook when it comes to your streaming?
It’s really dependent on the person but I always see a noticeable spike in all my trackable stats when I am more consistent.
How often do you create and post content?
Lately, not often, I have been live streaming more than anything. I’m not exactly on a hiatus but I am also not pushing myself. I have been focusing on myself this last year, I lost pieces of myself over the years due to my own mistakes, failed relationships and depression. I’ve come along way from the darkness, but am still getting comfortable in my skin again.
What’s your view on events held by the adult industry?
I have mixed feelings, I think the “award” events are a dog and pony show done so that those benefiting from the mainstream market can leverage some sort of class style system of control over all performers by pitting us against each other for a meaningless trophy and the promise of more exposure. Conventions on the other hand are a great opportunity for performers, personalities and companies, to all get out and enjoy the spotlight and meet those who support us.
