During part 2 of Episode 7 with Kristie Bish, we start on the lighthearted note of what Kristie does for decompression (hint: it may involve Disney), and she reiterates the importance of having a “slob day” for your mental health, but also discusses her love of live music and high energy events… Particularly her passion for Disney adventures. She admits to converting many friends to the Disney side in the tell-all interview. Kristie talks about her passion for not just Halloween but for the Christmas season as well, which she goes even MORE out for! We discuss her annual competition with her neighbor to out-decorate each other, and how she snoops on the neighbors to decide her plan of action for the holidays; we joke about ways to prank them with a Halloween murder gag.
Kristie gushes about her favorite award show memories and her “most iconic Kristie Bish moment.” We talk about how she always keeps things fun, new, and interesting, and how making content that SHE enjoys making has contributed to her success. Kristie set “content and consistency goals” for herself, rather than financial goals. She shares her true feelings about expos and conventions, and which cons she thinks are better than others for various reasons. We talk about the beauty of late nights at AVN and cherishing the times spent with like-minded folks discussing our jobs, and the many opportunities to trauma bond in our job. Within that, we discuss the feeling of healing and validation, and love for our community. Kristie gives her advice on personal finance in the realm of sex work, tips on how to keep your identity safe, and tax advice, as well as advice on maintaining your personal brand and keeping it yours – not letting other people determine your brand. She nails in the point to diversify your income as a creator in as many forms as possible, and we talk about getting past creative blocks. Kristie loves to use silly “what if” situations to stack concepts and breathe life into her ideas, and snowballing one small idea into a larger concept. We talk about how we all have one common goal at the end of the day – we want to be loved. Kristie asks people to “not be so quick to judge… and to go into things with positivity and love in your heart, and good things will follow.”
We talk about the humanity behind sex work, and how vital of a resource it is. Dive into a deep conversation about “the need to feel in control of” reproductive rights that men seem to have, and the lack of sex education in public schools, as well as the lack of exploration of knowledge of women’s bodies in science and medicine in general. Birth control methods are discussed, along with all kinds of bodily fluids and genitals. Kristie recommends budgeting goals and knowing what is worth spending money on – knowing that you need to set aside money for taxes but make life worth living still, and be sure to live and enjoy life. Finally, Kristie goes into detail about her Halloweekend festivities, Thanksgiving fundraising for charity, and of course, the greatest celebration of the year – Kristiemas! She shares with me that it’s rare for her to work with others, and I thank her for trusting me to be on my series.
